Avalon families are twelve minutes from the studio, and many of them come to us for newborn work and then stay local for their family sessions — because Avalon has, frankly, some of the best outdoor photography locations on the Northern Beaches.
The dunes at the northern end, the pool, the headland walk and the surrounding bush all sit within a short walk of each other, so a single session can move through three distinctly different backdrops without anyone getting back in a car.

Avalon dunes (north end)
Marram grass, soft mounds and warm light. The strongest family location on the whole peninsula at sunset.
Avalon Beach rock pool
Sandstone edges and reflection. Best at low tide, and slippery — sensible shoes for the walk down.
Careel Bay flats
Wide grass, mangrove edges and calm water. Excellent for large extended family groups.
Bangalley Head track
Bush and coastal cliff for older children and couples. Not suitable for prams.
For newborn sessions we recommend the studio — twelve minutes each way, warm, private and stocked. For family sessions, Avalon's own dunes usually win.

- Do you charge travel to Avalon Beach?
- No. In-home and on-location sessions across Avalon Beach and the rest of the Northern Beaches carry no travel fee.
- Do you photograph newborns in Avalon Beach?
- Yes. Avalon Beach families book either the Mona Vale studio (about 12 minutes to the studio) or an in-home newborn session where we bring lighting, wraps and the full kit to you. In-home is the usual choice in the first fortnight when nobody wants to pack a car.
- How much does a photoshoot in Avalon Beach cost?
- Sessions start from $590 + GST, or $389 + GST with 8 hand-retouched digitals under the Founding Families PLUS limited offer. Most families invest between $800 and $1,200 once wall art or an album is included, and there is no travel charge to Avalon Beach. Prices are subject to change without prior notice.
- Where do you photograph families in Avalon Beach?
- Our regular Avalon Beach locations are Avalon dunes (north end), Avalon Beach rock pool, Careel Bay flats. We choose based on the season, the wind and the ages of your children, and confirm the exact meeting point the day before.
- What time of day works best for outdoor photos in Avalon Beach?
- Sunrise or the last ninety minutes before sunset. The light is soft, the shadows are kind and the spots are quieter. With babies and toddlers we usually lean towards the morning, before the day catches up with them.
- What happens if it rains on our Avalon Beach session?
- We move you into the Mona Vale studio or reschedule to the next suitable window at no cost. We make the call together the day before, so nobody is packing the car in the wet.
- Do you travel to Avalon Beach at no extra cost?
- Yes — travel across the Northern Beaches, Avalon Beach included, is part of the session. There is no mileage fee, no location surcharge and no minimum spend to have us come to you.
- How far in advance should Avalon Beach families book?
- For newborns, reach out in the second trimester and we hold a tentative date around your due window. For maternity, aim for 32 to 36 weeks. For family sittings, four to six weeks is usually enough, though short-notice dates open most weeks.
