Freshwater is a small, warm pocket, and a lot of the families we photograph here have lived in the same few streets for years. It suits in-home sessions particularly well — the houses hold beautiful afternoon light and most people would rather stay in them than drive anywhere.
When we do go outdoors, Freshwater's advantage is scale. The beach is compact and framed by two headlands, so a session here feels intimate rather than exposed.

- Do you photograph newborns in Freshwater?
- Yes. Freshwater families book either the Mona Vale studio (about 25 minutes to the studio) or an in-home newborn session where we bring lighting, wraps and the full kit to you. In-home is the usual choice in the first fortnight when nobody wants to pack a car.
- How much does a photoshoot in Freshwater cost?
- Sessions start from $590 + GST, or $389 + GST with 8 hand-retouched digitals under the Founding Families PLUS limited offer. Most families invest between $800 and $1,200 once wall art or an album is included, and there is no travel charge to Freshwater. Prices are subject to change without prior notice.
- Where do you photograph families in Freshwater?
- Our regular Freshwater locations are Freshwater Beach & the rock pool, Freshwater headland lookout, Jacka Park. We choose based on the season, the wind and the ages of your children, and confirm the exact meeting point the day before.
- What time of day works best for outdoor photos in Freshwater?
- Sunrise or the last ninety minutes before sunset. The light is soft, the shadows are kind and the spots are quieter. With babies and toddlers we usually lean towards the morning, before the day catches up with them.
- What happens if it rains on our Freshwater session?
- We move you into the Mona Vale studio or reschedule to the next suitable window at no cost. We make the call together the day before, so nobody is packing the car in the wet.
- Do you travel to Freshwater at no extra cost?
- Yes — travel across the Northern Beaches, Freshwater included, is part of the session. There is no mileage fee, no location surcharge and no minimum spend to have us come to you.
- How far in advance should Freshwater families book?
- For newborns, reach out in the second trimester and we hold a tentative date around your due window. For maternity, aim for 32 to 36 weeks. For family sittings, four to six weeks is usually enough, though short-notice dates open most weeks.
